As part of his visit to Canada, Dr. Sándor Fazekas, Hungarian Minister of Agriculture, attended a dinner and met with representatives of Hungarian organizations on 14th April 2016 at the Tokaji Wine Boutique Restaurant in Toronto.
In his welcome speech the Minister conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for the representatives of the local Hungarian community and appreciated the active role that the Canadian Hungarians played and carried out in the business and social relations between Canada and Hungary. "In all areas of the Hungarian-Canadian relations we experience exemplary co-operation between the two countries and the nearly 400,000 Canadian Hungarians contribute to a great extent to it" – praised the Minister the work of the organizations and those of their leaders.
The Hungarian products, including the Hungarian wines, play a prominent role in strengthening national identity and building Hungary’s country image abroad. The Hungarian government is trying to provide such financial support and resources that help Canadian Hungarian businesses to promote and introduce Hungarian products into the Canadian market. Under such a program was launched the promotion of the Hungarian wines - especially the ones coming from Tokaj - in Canada, contributing to a large scale to the organization of a number of wine exhibition events, gaining recognitions and facilitating measurable business success for the participants of co-operation.
The Mád Furmint and Dry by Tokaj are the flagships of the wine promotion program realized in co-operation among Mad Wine Ltd., Vinum Tokaj Canada and Vinum Tokaj International, which by now undertook to represent other wine regions outside of Tokaj like Eger, Szekszárd and Villány, too.
