Sante Restaurant in Ottawa has launched a monthly series of Embassy Dinners – Seeds of Diversity. In co-operation with the Hungarian Embassy a Hungarian dinner was held on the 17 November 2015, where guests could enjoy the Hungarian menu put together and prepared by Sante’s chef Daniel Guerra and Zsolt Varga, chef of the Hungarian Embassy.
The each course of the special, traditional dinner was accompanied by excellent Hungarian wines presented to the 65-persons dinner guests by sommelier Joseph Safian being present on behalf of Vinum Tokaj Canada Inc.
Chosen by the Top Choice Canada's top imported white wine, the Dry by Tokaj was in the highlight of the event together with 2012 Mad Furmint dry white from Tokaj, a 2007 vintage five-puttonyos Tokai Aszú, the 2012 Takler’s Bullsblood from Szekszárd, as well as the 2012 Bock & Roll from Villány.
By invitation of the Embassy, the dinner was attended by Magdolna Fekete, director of the Hungarian National Tourist Office in New York, who delivered an exciting presentation to the dinner guests about Hungary’s tourist attraction, with a particular emphasis on the benefits arising from the direct flight connections. Mr. Bálint Ódor, Hungarian Ambassador in Ottawa, László Sinka Economic and Trade Counsellor, Halina Player, owner of Ottawa Tourism & Vacation Show and Sándor Balla, Chairman of the Vinum Tokaj Canada Inc. also honored the dinner with their presence.
Given the great success of the event, Donna Holton, Santé Restaurant’s owner has already conveyed a new invitation to Vinum Tokaj Canada to hold another wine tasting on 16 February 2016, where there will be chance for presenting the wines for an even wider audience.
In addition, Vinum Tokaj Canada together with its partners from Mad, has started the elaboration of tourism package for Canadian travelers, which would have as target visits paid to the Hungarian wine regions thus further swinging the recognition of Hungarian wines in the world, and increase the market demand towards them.
