Following the Toronto International Film Festival, which has become one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals over the past nearly four decades (founded in 1976, the festival is often referred to as the Oscar’s ante-room because of the art projected there plays an important role later in the Hollywood award season) a new international film event was organized in Toronto. This time, between 14 to 28 November EU countries’ films got the opportunity to debut at the European Union Film Festival.
While in September, the Son of Saul and the End of Puberty artworks represented Hungary, in November Liza, the Fox Fairy has been selected for the show.
As part of the closing event of the festival, Hungarian wines could join the program. Out of the EU member countries, the Hungarian wines were given the chance to present themselves for the Toronto audience as part of a wine conference and tasting. The event was honored by the presence of members of the Diplomatic Corp, various chambers of commerce executives, representatives of major European companies and key figures of Canada's cultural life.
As the Toronto film festivals are considered a good springboard for international films’ distribution overseas, so we are confident that the wine presentation also contributes to the reputation of Hungarian wines in Canada and increase of their sales.
