By Decree of the Minister of Agriculture issued for supporting promotion of wine products in third countries (apart from Hungary and EU), an opportunity has opened from 2015 for Hungarian wines to be present on the U.S. market with governmental support. The support provides opportunities and tools for those Hungarian wineries which target the international markets with their outstanding wines to get into the international wine supply chain and help Hungary to be displayed on the international wine map.
USA is a key market for Hungarian wines through which economic and cultural relations can be further strengthened between the two countries. In this relation, Hungary seeks to primarily export products which can enhance the country's positive image – products of surpassing quality, carrying special character and representing higher level of processing. Such products include Hungarian wines and spirits, too.
We are delighted that through the winning tender of St. Tamás Winery we are given the chance to step in to the US market with wines prepared by our winemaker István Szepsy Jr., an 18th generation winemaker; wines that present and represent the Hungarian winemaking tradition throughout the world in a worthy manner, with dignity.
The Hungarian Tokaji aszú is known to almost everyone. It has been considered The King of Wines and the Wine of Kings for centuries. We aim to offer such wines to the North American wine consumers, with which we can prove that the dry white wines from Tokaj, like Furmint or Hárslevelű (Lindenleaf) are worthy and can rely on the of interest of wine lovers.
Our goal is to use the wine promotion program in a way to help us to make the Hungarian quality wines become available at more and more places in the US on various supermarket shelves, in restaurants and events focusing on American wine consumers.
