FURMINT – The New Taste of the World presented with great success to the wine judges of the WSWA Convention’s Wine Tasting Competition
The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) 74thAnnual Convention & Exposition - the beverage alcohol industry’s leading event uniting suppliers and wholesalers under one roof - run between April 18-21 at Grande Lakes Orlando.The multi-day event featured the popular Wine Tasting Competition judged by independent industry experts organized by The Tasting Panel Magazine, The Somm Journal, and The Clever Root.
Judges of the Wine Competition were hosted by The SOMM Journal at Four Season’s Ravello Restaurant for a unique outing on April 18.
István Szepsy Jr., 18th generation winemaker of Szent Tamás Winery from Hungary’s Tokaj Wine Region, Mád, presented in person the flagship of the “2017 – The Year of Furmint” campaign in North America, the MÁD FURMINT.
In his presentation he highlighted the unique terroir of the region, the special character and distinctive minerality of the wines. A full range of different Furmint wines were presented and offered for tasting: the Dry by Tokaj - the first regional level dry Furmint developed for the international markets, the MÁD FURMINT - result of a highly controlled village level integration reflected by its quality, and Szent Tamás Furmint - a single vineyard selection Furmint seducing consumers and judges of the wine world with its elegant and charming style.
The Furmint selections and the Mád Late Harvest sweet wine proved to be an exciting and ideal pairing to the courses of the dinner.
“Innovation in Hungary. Furmint – the grape that heralds 500 years of a family’s heritage of winemaking” was the cover story announcing the grand debut of Hungary’s dry Furmint in the Tasting Panel Magazine’s April issue released for the WSWA.
Hungary’s new lifestyle, the dry Furmint, considered to be the new taste of the world is celebrated with declaring the “2017 – The Year of Furmint” by the SOMM Journal - St. Tamás Winery - Vinum Tokaj International LLC. and supported by the Tasting Panel Magazine, too.
