Wine is not just a product that amplifies economic ties between countries, but more, it is part of a nations culture, preserving national identity and togetherness. By sharing this conviction, Vinum Tokaj Canada and Vinum Tokaj International organized a Hungarian wine tasting event. In the framework of a wine conference, wine sommelier Joseph Safian delivered a presentation about the unrivalled feature of the Tokaj wines defined by the world's unique terroir. In his presentation he adverted to the Hungarian wine regions, to the significant developments the Hungarian wineries undergone recently and the wines achieving more and more international success, highlighted by the example of Dry by Tokaj produced by St. Tamás Winerys winemaker, István Szepsy Jr. Being the first Hungarian wine to obtain the Top Imported White Wine of Canada Award in 2014, the Dry by Tokaj could serve as an incentive for the Hungarian winemakers and wineries to make their appearance on the Canadian market, too.
Dry and sweet white wines from Tokaj, as well as reds from Villány, Szekszárd and Eger wine regions were presented and served during the dinner that followed the stand-up comedy performance of András Péter Kovács, Karinthy-Ring awarded Hungarian artist.
Vinum Tokaj Canada and Vinum Tokaj International has been carrying out for about one and a half years the wine promotional campaigns which resulted in the Hungarian wines becoming more widely known in Canada and available not only for Hungarians living there, but for the quality demanding Canadian wine consumers, too.
We are happy to see that Canadian Hungarians living in Toronto area will have their new home by autumn this year. We are looking forward to the inauguration ceremony scheduled for October where we can celebrate together-also with Hungarian wines.
